Northampton Shopmobility is affiliated to the National Federation of Shopmobility Schemes and is supported by Northampton Borough Council. It was administered and managed by Ability Northants but has now been formally taken over by Northampton Door to Door Service (NDDS).

Access to the Town Centre Shopping Area
- Shopmobility enables customers to access the town centre shopping and the General Hospital, if required. You can hire a manual wheelchair, a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair
- Those who become a member (there is no annual fee) are charged £2.00 per session (Mondays £1.00). Non-members £3.00. Visitors to the town are welcome to use the service provided proof of identity is shown. The charge for this is £3.00 per visit.
- You may use the scheme as often as you wish
- If using powered equipment for the first time , you will be given an assessment and short training session
- Additional equipment such as leg extensions, right or left hand controls, cushions and blankets can be supplied
- Shopmobility also hires wheelchairs for up to 8 weeks and sells Radar keys.
