Ability Northants

We regret that at the end of March, Ability Northants will close. As with many local charities, Ability Northants has relied on grant funding from Northamptonshire County Council for its existence.
This year, however, has seen a change in the way funding is allocated, with the establishment of a Centre for Independent Living (CIL). NCC funding will be channelled to this centre, which will have offices at Gladstone Resource Centre, Northampton and at St Patrick’s Road Centre, Corby and will be operational from April 1st 2010.

Ability Northants was one of a consortium of 6 local organisations that bid for the opportunity to provide this new Centre. This was unfortunately unsuccessful. The result, was that Ability was left without sufficient funds to carry on from April 2010 and it spelled the end of the road after 30 years of supporting disabled people in the County.
